finding watercolour inspiration in ordinary things

Over the last few months I’ve been a bit preoccupied with the latest season of Masterchef. So to ease my guilt about an absence of productivity whenever I settled in for an episode marathon, I started sketching in an A6 watercolour moleskine, using the fresh produce as inspiration.

It turned out to be such an enjoyable exercise and it reminded me how important it was to just play and create without the high expectations of producing a polished, finished piece.

So I spent some time looking for inspiration in every day objects to draw and here’s one of my favourite watercolour sketches from a recipe catalogue.

birthday girl

Digging around in my personal archives, I found this little inked drawing of a birthday girl. Mmm… I feel like a cupcake.
